Carmichael – 2008 “Sur Le Pont”   SYRAH   Blend ,  Monterey County, California

A Tribute to the town of Avignon, France, our 2008 is a lush Rhone style cepage made up of Syrah (76%), Grenache (13%), Petite Sirah (9%) and Cinsault (2%) all from small family owned vineyards in Monterey County. Cherry, blackberry, and plum aromas greet you on the nose, with background notes of leather and spice confriming that Surah is the main player here.  Peppery notes come from the warm weather Grenache that makes up a good portion of thie Rhone-style cepage.  In the mouth, blackberry and cherry fuit is predominant, with a strong chocolate and licorice flvor coming into play on the mid -palate.  this seeminly sweet component marries beautifully with the tannins in the finish, leaving a smooth lingering impression long after the wine is gone.        Retail is $21.       Wine Society Price $17

Carmichael – 2010  “Grigio e Bianco’ Pinot Grigio Blend

The Three varietals included in this wine uite each other perfectly brining racy adicity and complimentary flavor profiles.  The Pinot Grigio which makes up 77% of this wine, hjails from the Smith Vineyard, in the ultra-premium “Arroyo Seco” appellation.  Winemaker Ken Post, chose to add 17$ Chardonnay to this blend giving this wine some backbone. The Chardonnay was stainless fermented and aged, coming from the Cobblestone Vineyard, which also lies in the Arroya Seco Appellation.  The 6%  Albarino in this blend came from Paragon Vineyard in Edna Valley.

On the nose, hints of nectarine, lychee, guava and a touch of honey. Once on the palate, crisp nectarine and guava greet you up front, follwed by an ifusion of star fuite and mineral finsh. The crisp acidity of this wine makes it a great choice with many seafood dishes.  Retail $21     Wine Society $17
