George Bertrand purchasedChateau L’Hospitalet in 2002; 2000 acres
resting on the edge of the coast overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The heat and the mediterranean sun, and a high altitude, allows slow maturation for a great aromatic expression and smoother tannins. Two types of soils contribute to the wine compelxity and elegance. The La Clape appelation was elevated to Grand Cru status in 2010.
The Tautavel Appellation… is driven by George’s passion for the Med lifestyle and being the owner of the best premium wine estate in the South of France. The village of Taurtavel is perfectly istuated in the Roussillon between the Pyrenees and the Med sea bordering the Spanish Catalan area. This Tautave Region is known for the discovery of one of the most ancient prehistoric man found in Europe ‘Homo Erectus
