A jet-black, intensely flavored and very complex grape grown from this single vineyard. This old vine vineyard has thick gnarly vines that are planted on steep red rock slopes which have produced the much sought after grapes for 11 vintages.
Tasting of chocolate, blackberry and beautiful floral and spice aromatics, the wine was gently pressed and pumped into traditional 50 gallon French oak barrels. The yeast on the grapes were used for the fermentation and the grapes were hand sorted in early September.
This is a very small production wine of only 511 cases and it will improve with age of 8 years or more. This wine is 99% zinfandel and 1% Petite Syrah.
Your chance to taste the well balanced zinfandel will be on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 at Ellen’s Wine Room in Sanford, FL between 6-8pm. Call or email us for reservations at only $15 per person which includes a beef stroganoff and accompaniments.
