INKBLOT ..Tennat by Michael David Winery Lodi Originating in the southwest region of France, this varietal is known for its high tannin levels, raspberry aromas and dark color. The 5 acre vineyard, used for this bottling, has found a friendly foothold in the hilly southeastern edge of Lodi. The red gravelly loam soil in this area provides excellent drainage for this water adverse variety. To date there is only about 140 acres of this varietal planted in California.
winemaker’s notes:
Ferrari-Carano Cabernet Sauvignon comes primarily from mountaingrown fruit in Alexander Valley. Ripe black cherry aromas delight along with fresh boysenberry, spicy elements of clove, cedar and tea. Up front flavors of juicy blackberry, vanilla and cola are complemented by lingering notes of dark chocolate. This wine has excellent viscosity and smooth, pleasant structure with refined, yet generous, layers of tannin.
Blend: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Syrah and 2% Petit Verdot
